The pencil is gone: a simpler way to edit and save

Every editable page in the portal now works the same way. Fields are ready to type in the moment the page loads, and the page saves from one place. There is no edit mode to switch on first.

There is no edit button

Older versions of the portal put a small pencil icon in the corner of each section. You clicked it to make the fields editable, then clicked save inside that same section. That is gone. Open a building, a unit, a team member or a flow and the fields accept typing straight away.

If you are looking for a pencil and cannot find one, that is expected. Click into the field.

One save bar per page

Changes are saved from a bar pinned to the bottom of the screen, holding two buttons:

• Save Changes commits everything you have edited anywhere on the page, including sections you scrolled past and tabs you switched between. On a brand new record the button reads Create.
• Cancel Changes throws away your edits and puts the page back to how it was when it loaded. On a new record it takes you back to the list you came from.

The bar belongs to the whole page rather than to a section, so you can edit as many sections as you like and then save once. You will not find save buttons scattered down the page any more. If the bar covers something you want to read, the chevron on its right edge collapses it to a small tab you can click to bring it back, and collapsing does not discard anything.

Nothing saves until you say so

Nothing is written until you press Save Changes or Create. If you navigate away, close the tab, or hit Cancel Changes first, your edits are discarded. There is no autosave and no draft recovery, so save before you leave a page you have been working on.

When there is no save bar

If a page has no save bar, your account does not have update permission for that kind of record. You can still read everything, and the fields appear greyed out. Ask whoever administers your QuickCasa account to raise your team's permission level, or use the request access button where one is offered.

A save bar can also be absent until the page has something to attach to. A new building, for example, needs at least one community to exist first, so the portal points you at creating a community before it lets you save a building.

The places that still save on their own

A few screens genuinely hold several independent records at once rather than one record split into sections. On those, each card keeps its own Save Changes button in its header, because saving one row should not save the others. You will see this on syndication sites and their editorial pieces, quote branding profiles, a lead's External IDs, the admin lead editor, and the lead profile panel that slides out from the CRM board.
