Hide every real name on your screen with Alt + R

Redaction Mode replaces every real person on your screen with an invented one. Names, email addresses, phone numbers and street addresses become consistent stand-ins, so you can share your screen or record a walkthrough without a real lead, resident or teammate appearing in it.

Turning it on

Alt + R toggles it from anywhere in the portal, and it works even while your cursor is in a text box, because the moment you need it is usually the moment something is already on a projector. The same switch sits in the Presentation Mode panel in the top bar, alongside the pointer and whiteboard tools.

While it is on, a Redaction on pill sits in the corner of every page, and clicking it turns redaction off. The pill means you can never be redacted without knowing, and anyone watching your screen can see why the names look unfamiliar.

Your data is never changed

Redaction changes what is drawn on your screen and nothing else. The real values stay in the database, so if you edit and save a record while redaction is on, the real data is what gets saved. It is local to your browser too, so nobody else's portal changes.

What gets replaced

Names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses and property names each switch on and off independently. The same real person always becomes the same fake person, so a lead reads as one coherent human across the leads table, their profile and every message in their conversation. Phone numbers keep their exact formatting and draw from the 555-01xx range reserved for fiction, so a redacted number can never dial anybody.

Anything you can type into is blurred rather than replaced, because an invented value inside a field you can save from would sit one click from your real records. Free text such as a lead note is blurred for the same reason.

Give the rest a glance first

Nothing is guessed. Each screen states which of its values are a name, an email address, a phone number or an address, which keeps your menus and property data from being mangled. The trade-off is coverage: a screen that has not been marked up yet shows the real thing, and looks no different from one that has.

Covered today are the leads table, the CRM board and its quick view, the lead page, the conversation transcript, the inbox list and the do-not-contact list. Profile photos are not covered, so a picture on screen is still the real one.

Escape does not switch redaction off, and neither does Turn everything off in the Presentation Mode panel; both clear the drawing tools only. Redaction also stays on through a page refresh, so reloading mid screen share does not quietly put everybody's name back.
