Download or restore any past publish of your website

Every publish to a Production, Preview or Internal track now saves a revision you can download as a zip or restore in one step. A restore can roll the editor back too, and the state before it is saved, so any restore can be undone.

Your website now keeps a version history. Every publish to a Production, Preview or Internal track saves a revision: the files the track served after that publish, plus a snapshot of the editor that produced them.

Where to find it

Open your site in the Website Builder, choose Publish, and open Publishing Tracks. Each track has a Revisions button listing its revisions newest first, with the date, number of files and size.

What you can do with a revision

  • Download it as a standard zip, with the published files exactly as they were served and the editor snapshot alongside.
  • Restore it, so the track serves exactly that revision again. With Also restore the editor ticked, which is the default, your pages, code, shared components and site styles go back too, so the next publish does not bring the newer version back.

Before any restore runs, the current state is saved as a revision marked Saved before a restore, so you can always undo it. A restore also clears the cache on your verified custom domains, so it shows up straight away.

How many are kept

Each track type keeps its newest revisions: Production keeps 100, Preview keeps 10 and Internal keeps 20. You choose a track's type when you create it and can change it from Revisions. The built-in automatic Preview track does not keep revisions.

Good to know

  • Media files, CMS items, forms and maps are shared across your sites, so they are never rolled back. An image deleted since then stays deleted.
  • Redirects are not part of a revision.
  • Deleting a track or a website deletes its revisions.
